Most Reverent Lord,
May I in all humility invite your attention to the great catastrophe, that has befallen the mighty Chinese people and the thousands of lives that has been lost during the earthquake that struck them with such ferocity on Monday afternoon. Not that the magnitude of the tragedy would have escaped your noble attention, but a religiously conscious person you are, it demands all your prayer and persuasion at this hour of national suffering to extend your soothing words of comfort to alleviate the pain and loss that no human can compensate. The lakhs of your followers across many countries around the globe who still love their land of birth, could be mobilised for being sent to Sichuan and Beichuan along with equipment for erection of temporary shelters, cooking of community dinners and for nursing the needy and injured. The Buddhist monks are known for hefty physical stature and whose mind has been cultivated for over-coming mundane miseries are the most suited at the present juncture. The monetary aspect for rendering this humane help is not an overwhelming issue as your Lordship can telecast an universal appeal, and the response from individuals and governments will be astonishingly over-flowing. No individual or any other religious person is so greatly and perfectly suited for this divine duty, as Thine is placed. Nations and charitable organisation around the globe may offer help, but nothing would be comparable to the one that your Lamas will tend with their gentle and loveable hands being partly exposed to their cultural affliation. We have seen through the entire length the Olympic torch travelled, when your followers even at the cost of their personal lives exhibited that vehemence and determination in protest against deprivation of their land and freedom, an act that the global citizen justifiably envied. I am sure that this resoluteness can be exploited for a benign human cause. When the dust settles down and the venerable Tibetians return back to their distant havens in migrant lands with out accepting any price for their services, the world if not the Chinese people on the streets of Beijing and Wen Jiabao himself will realise what Buddhism teaches and how the Lamas matter !

Mr. Bala,
You seem to have stepped out of the arguments now and have diverted to leaving deplorable comments on other blogs.
What happened to the 'spit and scoot' thing?
Not far back, I remember you had commented on dcindias blog on caste system and your views were prejudiced. No, I do not care about your views, but just want to emphasize that everyone is prejudiced to an extent. Till date, I have not seen anyone with an unblemished mind. Erads arguments have done wonders. I truly do not understand why this harping about Thackrey only, when there are other crooks around the country. Ppl have cried hoarse against the 'unfairness of the Thackerays' but keep mum about similar other issues. True 'psecularism' indeed.....

this is such a lovely reminder ..
when one can influence people to mobilise
then these are the causes the sage should direct the massess to rise to.
what a garceful yet a reminder of the true meaning and purpose of religion....

Dear Ushasuryamani,
That is an obvious thought for any person to whom the chinese commies mind is well known. But the Dalai Lama is a religious person who stands head and shoulder above the common man and he can not respond like every body. The whole world has seen the protests lodged by the Tibetians along the olympic torch route and some might not even agree, that they should spoil such a solemn occasion with a political act. Now is the time for the Dalai Lama to show the world what the monks mean ! Thanks for your considered response.

Wishful thinking Krishna Bala... You think the Chinese would allow that ? their conniving mind would would only create negative feelings. deep inside , the Leaders must be happy that it was good the Earth Quake happened...less people for the Govt. to take care of ! One way to reduce population...this is their approach !

Dear Santhemant,
You have nicely brought out the type of mind set that the Chinese and the military junta in Myanmar possess as to even sacrifice the lifes of their poor citizens rather than accept aid in times of catastrophe of this nature. Your reference to the depredations carried out by ultra religious fanatics at Jaipur is likely to harden the majority community in to re-evaluating their sense of secularisn and I am sure politics henceforth will not be the same as it has all along been. Thanks for your valued comments.

Dr.Madhvi,
Despite your doubt about the likely response from the Chinese, you have pointed out the noble thought that should be entertained by any human being at a time of devastation of this magnitude. That is what is expected of a sensible person !. Thank you for this focus.

THE ''PROUD and arrogant CHINESE LEADERSHIP WILL never ever ACCEPT THIS srvice from tibetans .DO YOU THINK THEY ARE ANY DIFERENT FROM THE MEDIEVIAL BURMESE miltary junta who aceepts loss of lives but not humane help. These human beings have different set of minds which our types can never understand.Just as some muslims cold blooded ly plan regular blasts with so much care and precision and energy to see pink city painted REd and then call it jehad in the name of GOD,the Chinese think Tibetans are worms to be crushed and eaten fried .Arrogant man dies but door to his heart and mind does not open. The naswer lies in spirituality or the religion or way of life they believe in and what thier elders teach. But if they are against all ''gods'' and spirituality is the poison for them then they are from different plane of exixtance and it will require more than an earth qauke to shake HAN chinese leadership who think they are born to rule the world.

in the face of human tragedies it is but natural for people to forget their past differences and work towards rebuilding and help alleviating human sufferings.....I think Dalai Lama is a great saint and perhaps overlook atrocities of chinese people and government but that would do some good ...i doubt...
